How We Route Downspouts Under Pavers the Right Way

This is a custom downspout connection finished the right way, even though the pavers made it tricky.

We built a custom adapter to match a non-standard downspout, vented underneath the pavers, and cut directly through the pavers to tie into a six-inch underground drainage line. The downspout now sends its water cleanly into a real system, and the paver surface stays intact.

The usual shortcut

Most installers see pavers and take the easy way out. They leave the downspout dumping in front of the pavers, or they run a pipe across the surface where it looks bad, trips people, and traps debris. The water ends up pooling on the hardscape or running back toward the house. The pavers win and the drainage loses.

The right way takes more work

Routing the connection underneath the pavers and tying it into a properly sized line takes more planning and more care. You have to vent it correctly so the system breathes, cut cleanly so the pavers go back down right, and size the adapter to the actual downspout.

It is worth it. The pavers stay clean and intact, the downspout feeds a real system, and the whole thing can be serviced later. Built right means built to drain, built to last, and built to be serviced.
